Emperor's Reckoning

Chapter 871

"What happened?" Lyon asked as he raised his brows.

Cecile brooded over the main town of Myriad Devils before darted her glance toward the endless horizon of the night. "I think that you should have already been aware of how odd your situation is." "Huh?" "Like how can someone capable as you, have grown to be unknown," said Cecile. Zelena frowned before she darted her glance toward Lyon and then back at Cecile. "Are you implying that he is supposed to be known throughout? Assid stepped in, "More than that. Everyone should already know his past feats if nothing happened, even the passage of time couldn\'t erode his magnificence!" "Calm down, Assid," said Cecile. Assid took a slow cold breath through his nostrils before he pressed his chest and bowed, "My apologies."

"Don\'t need to apologize for that one, but anyway, Assid is right, I believe that even with the passage of time which naturally erode everything to begin a new, his achievements and blatant divine feats won\'t be able to be erased that easily unless someone or some people decided to meddle or tampered with it directly."

Zelena and Luna had their eyes widened before they darted their glance toward the man who had his brows furrowing instead of in awe. "I don\'t get it," Lyon shook his head, "You mean to tell me that my feat was erased on purpose?" "That\'s right," Kesya nodded. "It was an overnight erasure."

"Master, they erased your name," said Graham. "Your name, your achievements, every mention of you and your mighty status, everything that has you in it, were erased from the people\'s memories. Young, old, a baby, it doesn\'t matter."

"What? How? Lyon raised his brows. "Most likely they used a supremely high-level magic, perhaps the Origin Magic," said Cecile. "Magic to erase even my achievements? That\'s kind of petty don\'t you think?" Lyon shrugged. "Not when it\'s regarding you," Cecile smiled. "The scale was unimaginable, it spans from Paradise to the whole Mortal World!" said Kesya nodded. "You mean all seven levels of heaven?!" Zelena exclaimed. Assid nodded, "That\'s correct."

"That\'s why even the Sixth Heaven didn\'t know your existence," said Cecile. "You\'re the kind of being that should be written in history but Mavis didn\'t know, given how intellectual he actually is."

"Is that so..." Lyon furrowed his brows as he contemplated.

"There might be some more details that I overlooked because when I was born, things had already been set in motion," Cecile sighed.

"So it happens before you were born," Lyon muttered. "Most likely," Lumina nodded. "Hm?" Lyon raised his brows as he looked at Lumina. Lumina narrowed her eyes as she furrowed her brows. "What? Your glance is infuriating, if you want to say something, might as well." "Err..." Lyon scratched his cheek with a finger as he looked away. "What are you hesitating about?" Lumina crossed her arms. "Hehe, he must have wanted to ask you why you would still remember him, considering that you—Hehe ," Cecile raised her arms as she surrendered after noticing Lumina\'s glare. Lumina closed her eyes before she revealed her sharp glance toward Lyon. "Remember at the island where we meet? There was a barrier that prevents the others to enter." "OH!" "That\'s that." "But\'s it\'s the Origin Magic? Wouldn\'t it be futile?" Lyon raised his brows. "The Origin Magic might be a powerful tier of magic, however, it still has its limits, after all, it covers not only Paradise but also all the way toward the Mortal World," said Cecile. "Oh... so the farther the weaker it is." "I think that even Paradise knows that it cannot fully erase your existence, however, they have achieved what they need to achieve," said Cecile. "You mean that they don\'t need to erase his existence fully? Luna furrowed her brows. "Oh, that\'s right, they don\'t need to." "Huh?" Lyon raised his brows. "Luna, maybe try explaining in a simple term? I just got my face blown off about an hour ago." "Hehe," Luna scratched the back of her head. "Lyon, what if you have ten people, and you told one of the people the truth, and the other nine lies— the nine received the same lie." "Then they can gaslight the one person? Or just kill them?" Lyon tilted his head. "Unless that one person has conviction made out of steel, then yes. Soon the lie will become the truth like most cases or they became corpses as you said," said Cecile. "I see," Lyon nodded. "Then, what about Graham and Assid?" "Hey what about me?" "You\'re an Anti-Mana cultivator, Kesya, I think it wouldn\'t work on you, regardless even if its an Origin Magic." "Hehe, you\'re always sharp, emperor-" Kesya leaped behind him before nibbling his ear. ( I really wonder, is she really just half-elf and half-dark elf? I don\'t think both races behave this way

"The magic was already weak when it reached the Mortal World, so we could handle it," said Assid.

"Oh, well that\'s convenient," Lyon smiled before he put his hands behind his head and leaned back "But then again... why would they go for such length."

"Because they\'re afraid of another \'Lyon Torga\' emerging in the Mortal World," said Cecile. "Eh?" Lyon sat straight before looking at Cecile with a smile on her face. "He brought fear to Paradise?" Zelena frowned. "Selena didn\'t mention anything about this." "Would you believe her if she did?" Cecile raised one of her brows. "I..." "Exactly my thought," Cecile smiled. "Another me?" Lyon muttered as he looked at both of his palms. "Just what am I used to be..." Luna raised her brows as she looked at Lyon. His face was calm and warm but his dark galaxy eyes had a slight hint of worry and confusion. Anxiety shrouded his being. "Huh?" Lyon raised his brows as both of his hands were held by another. He looked up to see Luna giving him a beaming glance. She closed his hands together with hers before taking a deep breath, "Lyon, remember, it doesn\'t matter who you were in the past, you are now in the present. It is my hands that touched you now." "Luna..." "Heh, she is right Lyon," Cecile added. "However, I\'m not done yet." "Eh?" Luna turned around and looked at the auburn woman.

"I told you before, the situation involved the Three Realms," she sat on the opposite of the two of them. "The main path to Hell has been sealed by none other than Paradise themselves, however, why is that?"

"I have no idea?" "To control the Mortal World," said Cecile as her eyes turned sharp. Lyon\'s eyes widened before they turned sharp. "To control the Mortal World?"

"That\'s right, the cultivators have found two ways of gaining Mana Essence, that is by slaying powerful beasts around here, which yields worse results, or by ascending to Heaven where the mana is denser, and the beasts there harbor more Mana Essence than here."

"But the situation in First Heaven is so ugly that it would be futile for any Mortal Cultivator to even advance," added Zelena. "That\'s why most cultivators choose to be here. Well that, and coupled with the mystery of the Dark Continent itself."

"Precisely," Cecile nodded. "However, most of them didn\'t know that the Hell realm can be accessed inside the reverse tower at the end of the Dark Continent, yet. This time, unlike using the Origin Magic, whoever is guarding that seal is using the beast around here to pulverize the town every few years or so."

"That\'s your assumption?" Zelena frowned.

"That\'s right, to learn the existence of the reverse tower is taboo, at least for Paradise," Cecile answered. "Thus the massacre in the Twin Tower and, supposedly Myriad Devils should be next but we stopped them, yet we didn\'t see the one pulling the strings." "Wait a minute, that means are they using those Daemons to keep up appearances? That\'s why the massacre was done by beasts? Lyon asked.

"That is most likely the case, can\'t have the perfect place to be revealed imperfect," Cecile smiled. "Bunch of hypocrites, all of them!" Kesya scowled. "So mortals were never meant to reach Paradise?" asked Zelena. "Never," Cecile shook her head. "However, I must say Paradise is playing a dangerous game here." "Dangerous? How so?" Zelena frowned. Assid stepped up. "The seal is formed, meaning that they have made an enemy out of the entirety of Hell." "What? I\'m sorry, but are they friends? Heaven and Hell?" Lyon furrowed his brows. "Temporary truce out of a transactional relationship," said Cecile.

"Transactional relationship? Lyon frowned. "Most likely the transaction involves the Mortal World on the table right?"

Cecile nodded, "However, they have roughly equal power, it was a stroke of fate that enabled them to lock Hell out of the Mortal World."

She pointed at Lyon, "You were the stroke of fate."

Lyon\'s eyes widened before he pointed at himself, "I was?"
